About ZYGO

ZYGO is a fast-growing robotics software company building ZYGOS, a skill-based platform that enables robots to adapt, learn, and operate in complex environments. Our robots are deployed in industries where reliability, autonomy, and intelligence truly matter.
*Most people shouldn’t join a startup. Things break, plans change, and there’s no time for endless meetings or perfect processes. It’s action, every day. If that excites you, you’ll fit right in.

The role

We're hiring a Robotics Engineer to join the team building our robot-agnostic operating system. You'll work on the software that runs across quadrupeds, marine drones, and the hardware we'll add next, turning autonomous systems into something enterprises can trust.

What you'll do

  • Design, implement, and optimize path planners, controllers, and perception systems for autonomous robots.
  • Develop and maintain C++ software for robotics applications. Performance, reliability, and safety are the bar.
  • Work in ROS2 to integrate sensors, actuators, and navigation stacks across multiple robot platforms.
  • Collaborate with the team to take algorithms from prototype to field deployment.
  • Troubleshoot embedded systems where latency, stability, and edge cases decide whether the robot gets trusted.
  • Support the integration of new hardware and software components into ZYGOS without breaking what already works.

What you bring

  • Strong C++ expertise. Real-time, embedded, or robotics experience.
  • Solid grounding in at least one of: path planning, control theory, sensor fusion, perception.
  • Hands-on experience with robotics frameworks. ROS2 is a plus.
  • A bias for turning ideas into working systems on real hardware.
  • The ability to work in a small, fast-moving team where ownership is the default.

Bonus points

  • SLAM, localization, or sensor fusion on robots that operate outdoors.
  • Perception pipelines (camera, LiDAR, radar) tuned for latency and edge-case robustness, not benchmark scores.
  • Visualization and operator tooling that turns raw robot state into something a human can act on.
  • Long-deployment mapping: semantic maps, change detection, map maintenance across weeks and months.

Why this role?

You'll work alongside Arne (CTO) and Mike, who's spent over 20 years on navigation, perception, and SLAM. We're part of the NVIDIA Inception program and run on the NVIDIA stack (Jetson AGX Orin, CUDA, TensorRT, Isaac Sim). The systems you build will define what physical AI looks like in security, inspection, and other verticals as we scale ZYGOS across more robot types through 2026 and beyond.

Why ZYGO?

  • We're still small enough that you'll shape what ZYGO becomes.
  • A team that's actively implementing the latest tech to create Physical AI Agents.
  • Lots of learning potential with lots of technologies and senior team members.
  • Professional workplace despite the fast-paced growth trajectory.
  • Have a real-world impact on jobs that are under a lot of pressure.
  • No traffic jams on your way to work and no wannapreneurs next door.
